Nurgle Troll
(2nd Place Golden Demon Competition - Warhammer Medium Miniature Australia 2007)

I would like to thank Mark Carlisle for contributing to our site. Mark is a Golden Demon winning painter and it is a pleasure to be able to show his amazing work here in the Legions Games Master's Workshop

This mini was done after I had finished my 2 40k entries for Australian Golden Demon in 2007. It was my 'just for fun' entry, and an opportunity to have a go at copying a tutorial on painting nurgle trolls. I followed the instructions to the letter (i.e. the bigger nose, horns, belly), except for the weathering on the scythe. The scythe was made out of plasticard, instead of milliput. It was quite unexpected that the troll placed 2nd in its category. When it was announced, we all had a good laugh.

The weathering on the scythe was done by mixing some concrete dust with bolgun metal, to give it a bit of rusty texture. It was just some idea I had that I wanted to try.
